This vista gadget makes it possible to disconnect your usb, SATA, eSATA drives very easily. It also displays in the windows sidebar free space for the drive. And you can with a simple Double click explore your device.

It'd be superb if whoever made this gadget could also add any cd/dvd drives to the menu, allowing for these to be ejected/loaded.

Hi,

it seems that isn't working because of the structure of the .gadget file. Just open it with winrar, extract all the folders and you will see that there is one RDSafely.gadget folder inside the first RDSafely.gadget folder. Just move the second (inside one) folder to appdata\local\microsoft\windows sidebar\gadgets

Then, use the add gadget feature in the sidebar and voila, you can select this fantastic gadget from the list and open it.

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks to the creator, useful gadget indeed.

Para Sidebar Xp:

rename RDSafely.Gadget RDSafely.zip

extraer en (no extraer aqui usar el nombre de la carpeta del mismo nombre:

RDSafely> cambiar el nombre (F2) a RDSafely.Gadget>

Por Ultimo copiarla en la Carpeta Gadget de windows Sidebar

La solucion para que agarre este Gadget es esta:
Abran el archivo RDSafely.Gadget con WinRar cuando lo abran les aparece la carpeta de de RDSafety.Gadget le dan doble clic y aparecen 2 carpetas mas otros archivos, lo que tienen q hacer es Cambiar el nombre de la carpeta que dice en-US (De acuerdo a su version de windows vista) a la que ustedes tengan en su windows vista, la mia es en español
c:\archivos de programa\Windows Sidebar\es-ES

entonces lo q hago es cambiar el nombre de en-US a es-ES

luego de eso... me salgo de winrar y le vuelvo a dar doble clic al archivo RDsafely.gadget

y ya te debe de aparecer

You need to copy the .gadget file in the en-us folder to appdata\local\microsoft\windows sidebar\gadgets.

After that, use the Vista Sidebar to install the Gadget.

I'm having the same problem with A: as well, obviously doesnt affect PC's without a floppy, but its fugging annoying. You can stop it by turning off automatic detecton but then it doesnt pick up inserted USB sticks making the util pointless.

Found the solution for my german Windows Vista. First off all you have to follow the instruction from Mick above. Then once you have that Folder in your Gadgets Folder, open the "RDSafely.Gadget" and rename the Folder "us-US" to your Windows Vista language (for my part German so my folders name is now "de-DE". Done.

be carefull with zip drives, the gadget checks every other time and it makes the drive sing
